Food related actions

Saving money

Similar to previous waves, the most likely money saving activities were buying ‘reduced to clear’ food items, cooking more food than needed to freeze for later, and bulking out meals with cheaper ingredients. The proportion doing each of these more often in the last 6 months was similar to W21 except for cooking more food to freeze which significantly decreased.

Q5. Over the past 6 months, in order to save money, have you done any of the following more or less often? [Note: Code added ‘I do this but not to save money’ at W19. *Statement wording change W22]. Base (all) W17: 1,039, W18: 1,027, W19: 1,009, W20: 1,010, W21: 1,019, W22: 1,014

The proportion doing the other activities more often were similar to previous waves.
