For safe food and healthy eating
Food Crime Q&A
Food Standards Scotland is involved all along the food chain to ensure that what ends up on your plate is safe and authentic.
We are here to help you make informed choices when it comes to what and where to eat. Our values of Public Service, Authority, Partnership, Openness and Independence guide everything we do.
We always have the consumer's best interests at heart and aim to be your go-to source of information when it comes to food safety and healthy eating.

The members of FSS are informally known as ‘the Board’. They are appointed by Scottish Ministers, through an open, public process.
We are open and transparent. Our Board meets in public, and our policy recommendations and decisions, and the reasons for them, are publicly available.
The Board is supported by about 90 office-based staff working in Aberdeen and approximately 80 operations staff working across Scotland.
FSS key spokespeople are available to comment and convey information on a range of FSS issues.
Public Service, Authority, Openness, Independence and Partnership are the values against which we judge everything we do.
