Background
The Food in Scotland Consumer Tracker Survey monitors attitudes, knowledge and reported behaviours relating to food using a representative sample of Scotland’s population.
Established by Food Standards Scotland (FSS) in 2015, the survey is undertaken bi-annually in July and December.
The survey was set up by Kantar TNS who conducted waves 1-6. JRS Research conducted waves 7-16 and Union Data conducted Wave 17. Progressive has previously carried out waves 18-20 and repeated this in December 2025 for W21.

The same survey was used at W21 and W20 so all questions are comparable.
Margins of error calculated at the 95% confidence level are between ±0.61% and ±3.07%. As quotas were used to ensure sample was representative then these margins of error are indicative based on an equivalent probability sample.
Methodology
The research methodology is consistent across research waves to ensure comparability.
