Overview
The Scottish Government is consulting on proposals to amend the minimum requirements for the location of Border Control Posts (BCPs) in Scotland.
At present certain products such as meat and dairy products may be imported directly into Scotland through a Scottish point of entry with a designated BCP.
Other products such as high risk food and feed of non-animal origin, and plastic kitchenware from China must also be imported via a BCP so that the necessary checks can be carried out.
The minimum requirements on the location of BCPs are set out in law. This consultation seeks views on amending the minimum requirements for the location of BCPs in Scotland.
The consultation will run until 15 January 2026.
