Please can you provide me with any information that FSS has showing instances in each of the last two full financial years (April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025 and April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026) when tests on samples of food have come back to show that the foodstuff identified by tests differed from how it was sold/marketed. 

For example, this would include instances when a product was sold as lamb but was actually beef. Please break the figures down for each year and give details of what the sample actually was compared to what it was sold or marketed as.

The below data has been taken from Scottish Food Sampling Database for the period of 1st April 2024 to 31st March 2026. This includes all samples of food that were tested for substitution, not only limited to meat samples.

Samples described as a single meat product (e.g. pork sausages) must contain only the meat component described (e.g. pork). The presence of other meat species (e.g. beef, chicken, lamb) resulted in the sample being reported as unsatisfactory. The method of analysis for meat species detection is not quantitative and therefore it is not possible to estimate the amount of other meat species present.
