Recognition of the training

Food Standards Scotland (FSS) and Food Standards Agency (FSA) have agreed mutual recognition of training of veterinarians for the purpose of performing ante-mortem inspection in case of emergency slaughter outside the slaughterhouse.

Veterinarians who complete the above training and successfully passed the on line test with FSS do not need to complete the training and on-line test again with the FSA to carry out this official control in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Similarly, veterinarians who complete the above training and successfully passed the on line test with FSA do not need to complete the training and on-line test again with the FSS to carry out this official control in Scotland.

To carry out ante-mortem inspection of domestic ungulates in case of emergency slaughter outside the slaughterhouse in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, veterinarians need to follow the procedures set for this purpose by the FSA.
