Radioactivity in Food and the Environment (RIFE) report 2017

FSS works with UK environmental agencies and the FSA to monitor radioactivity in food and the environment (RISE) through annual RIFE reports, which detail findings from food and drinking water analyses.

Summary

The Radioactivity in Food and the Environment (RIFE) Report 2017 has been published today (Thursday 25 October 2018).

This annual report gives the results of UK-wide radiological sampling and analysis carried out in 2017 by the environmental and food safety organisations, including Food Standards Scotland.

It shows that food remains safe and radiation doses to the public from nuclear licensed sites with authorised releases of radioactivity were still well below the UK and EU legal limit in 2017.
