Radioactivity in Food and the Environment (RIFE) report 2016

FSS works with UK environmental agencies and the FSA to monitor radioactivity in food and the environment (RISE) through annual RIFE reports, which detail findings from food and drinking water analyses.

Summary

The Radioactivity in Food and the Environment (RIFE) Report 2016 has been published today (Thursday 19 October).

This annual report covers the radiological sampling and analysis carried out by the environmental and food safety organisations across the UK, including Food Standards Scotland.  It presents the results of the public dose assessments and shows that food remains safe, and the public's exposure to radiation is still below the EU legal limit during 2016.
