Review of ready-to-eat food products sold over social media in Scotland

2 documents for this subject

Summary

Despite general concerns about the increase in online food selling, and the unknowns around the safety of food sold this way, there has been little research published on this issue. This project, funded by Food Standards Scotland and undertaken by Taylor McKenzie Research, aimed to provide an overview of ready-to-eat food products offered for sale on Facebook Marketplace in Scotland.

There are two parts to the publication:

  1. the report from the contractor which details the data collection approach and findings and,
  2. a response from FSS to consider the food safety implications of the findings reported by the contractor.
