Food Standards Scotland (FSS) has launched a consultation seeking stakeholder views on the market authorisation of sixteen novel foods.
The consultation invites comments and feedback on the proposed authorisations, including the use of certain new products in supplements intended for infants and young children.
The consultation is expected to be of particular interest to Scottish food businesses, local authorities and others with an interest in food safety. A parallel consultation has also been launched by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) for England and Wales.
Stakeholders are encouraged to share their views on the proposed conditions of use and specific labelling requirements set out in the terms of authorisation. Feedback received will be considered by FSS and used to inform advice provided to the Cabinet Secretary.
The consultation is open until 24 November 2026
