Food Standards Scotland (FSS) is inviting applications for two new non-executive members to join its Board and help guide the organisation’s work to protect consumers, improve public health and strengthen confidence in Scotland’s food system.
The appointments come at a significant time for FSS as it continues to respond to a changing food landscape and prepares for future regulatory transformation. The Board is seeking candidates with expertise in either financial leadership and governance, and strategic transformation and regulatory reform.
As Scotland’s food body, FSS provides independent advice and regulation on food safety, standards, nutrition and labelling, with a vision of creating a safe, authentic and healthier food environment that people can trust.
Heather Kelman, Chair of the Board at Food Standards Scotland, said: "This is an exciting opportunity for talented and committed individuals to play a key role in shaping the future of Food Standards Scotland.
“We are looking for people who can bring fresh perspectives, strategic insight and a strong commitment to public service as we continue our work to protect consumers, improve public health and build trust in Scotland’s food system.
“We particularly welcome applications from people whose experiences will broaden the diversity of our Board."
Successful candidates will join the Board up to a four-year term and contribute to the strategic direction and governance of the organisation.
To help prospective applicants learn more, we are hosting an information webinar led by Heather Kelman on Wednesday 18 November at 18:00.
Applications are open now, with details of the roles and application process available via the Food Standards Scotland website.
