Food Standards Scotland (FSS) is seeking stakeholder views in relation to a traditional food from a third country.
This consultation seeks stakeholders’ views, comments and feedback in relation to the traditional food from a third country, dried Kenari Nut (Canarium indicum L.).
A traditional food notification of intention to place on the market dried Kenari Nut (Canarium indicum L.) was submitted under Article 14 of Regulation (EU) 2015/2283 (“the Novel Food Regulations”), Notification of a traditional food from a third country. FSS did not raise any safety objections, therefore, the Cabinet Secretary must authorise.
This consultation will be of interest to:
- all Scottish food and feed businesses
- local authorities
- other stakeholders with an interest in food safety

The consultation will close on 3 September 2026.
Why your views matter
This consultation provides the opportunity for stakeholders to comment and express views on the conditions for use and specific labelling requirements in the terms of authorisation of the traditional food from a third country.
FSS will take stakeholders’ feedback into account and inform the Cabinet Secretary of stakeholders’ views.
