Meat Testing to Identify Species -Scotland

Request

Equivalent Scottish data which the Food Standards Agency (FSA) released under Freedom of Information relating to meat testing.

Response

For the avoidance of doubt, the FSA released information on those food samples procured by Local Authorities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland in 2017, where the samples had been analysed for meat species and found to be unsatisfactory due to speciation.  We have provided equivalent Scottish data in the annexed spreadsheet.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide some of the information you have requested because exemptions under sections.33 (1)(b) (Commercial Interests) and 35 (1)(g) (Public Authority functions) of FOISA apply to that information.
