Bonuses or Performance Related Payments

Request

I would like the information to cover the last two financial years (2014/15, 2015/16) and to be broken down by year.

I would like to know how many members of staff have received bonuses or performance related payments during this period?

I would like to know the total amount of money which was paid out in bonuses or performance related payments to staff during this period?

I would like to know the range of monetary value of the performance related payments or bonuses paid out from the highest to the lowest?

Response

Food Standards Scotland was established as the public sector food body for Scotland from 1 April 2015.

In August 2015, 33 members of staff received a non-consolidated performance related payment of £850 (pro rata for part-time staff). This related to the appraisal performance year April 2014 – March 2015 and formed part of the terms and conditions which applied to staff previously employed by the Food Standards Agency. Under these terms, staff who received an excellent performance rating in their appraisal received a bonus payment. The total cost of the payments was £27,016.

For the period of 2015/16 following the creation of Food Standards Scotland, Scottish Ministers’ pay policy has been adopted under which bonus payments are no longer payable and therefore no further bonus payments have been made to staff since that date.
