- Heat the oil and brown the mince over a gentle heat, stirring to stop it from sticking.
- Add the onion to the mince and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the remaining ingredients, bring the sauce to the boil, then lower the heat and simmer gently for 15-20 minutes.
- Add pepper to taste.
- Before the Bolognese is finished cooking, allow around 10-15 mins to cook your wholemeal pasta.
- Serve with the garlic bread.
- For dessert, have half of the fruit salad mixture and keep the other half to use another day.

- ⅓ green pepper (cut into strips)

For the fruit salad (Serves 4)
- 1 sliced banana
- 1 apple, sliced
- 1 segmented orange
- 4 quartered strawberries
- 10 halved grapes
- 1 sliced kiwi fruit
- 100ml unsweetened orange juice

Tips
- If you are cooking for one, you can freeze the extra portions for a quick and easy evening meal another week.
- This is quite a big meal with a high calorie content, so you don’t have to have all the sides and accompaniments if you don’t want to. If you do, avoid having this type of meal very often.
- If you want to make a lighter version, you could substitute some or all of the beef mince for extra vegetables, or use soya mince.
