Summary

In recent years, there has been an increase in reported foodborne illness cases amongst over 60 year olds. In light of this, Food Standards Agency in Scotland undertook research with this age group to explore views and behaviour in relation to their food hygiene at home. The research found that people over 60 years are confident in their food hygiene procedures. It was also identified that this age group require more information on 'not washing raw chicken and meat', and observing ‘use by’ dates.
