The Island Smokery recalls Smoked Orkney Cheddar with Ploughman’s Pickle because of undeclared barley (gluten)

The Island Smokery is recalling Smoked Orkney Cheddar with Ploughman’s Pickle because it contains barley (gluten) which is not mentioned on the label.  This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with coeliac disease, and/or an allergy or intolerance to gluten.

 

Product details:

Product: Smoked Orkney Cheddar with Ploughman’s Pickle

Pack size: 150g

Best before date: All date codes up to and including 09 April 2025

 

No other The Island Smokery products are known to be affected

 

Risk: Barley (gluten)

This product contains barley (gluten) making it a possible health risk for anyone with coeliac disease, and/or an allergy or intolerance to gluten

                     

Our advice to consumers:

If you have bought the above product and have coeliac disease, and/or an allergy or intolerance or gluten, do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

 

Action taken by the company:

The Island Smokery is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.
