Mabbo Ltd recalls Fresh Tofu and Tofu Puffs because of concerns over the company’s procedures to control Listeria monocytogenes.

This product recall is not linked to the current listeria multi-agency investigation

Risk: The possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes in the products listed above

Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea. However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis.

Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.

Please Note: These products are also subject to an Allergy Alert (FSS-AA-41-2019) because they contain Soya and Sulphites making them a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to Soya and/or Sulphites. 

This alert is unrelated to the ongoing Listeria monocytogenes outbreak which has been reported recently in the media.

Our advice to consumers: If you have bought any of the above products do not eat them. Instead, return to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

Action taken by the company:
Mabbo Ltd is recalling the above products. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.
