FSS Response to First Minister’s Meeting with Jamie Oliver Setting Target to Halve Childhood Obesity by 2030
Heather Peace, Head of Public Health Nutrition at Food Standards Scotland said:
“Food Standards Scotland welcomes the Scottish Government’s commitment to halving childhood obesity in Scotland by 2030, and we will continue to work with the Scottish Government and others to help achieve this objective.
“Obesity is one of the most serious problems we face in Scotland today, with 29% of children currently being overweight or obese.
“Food Standards Scotland has recommended a package of measures to urgently address this serious issue, and it’s essential that industry, government and the people of Scotland all work together to turn the tide on obesity.”
