Campylobacter levels continue to reduce in UK retail chickens

The top 9 retailers across the UK have now published the results of their testing for campylobacter showing a reduction in the highest level of contamination.

The results show that 4.5% of UK produced fresh whole chickens tested positive for the highest levels of campylobacter. This work continues to build on the first set of results released by retailers towards the end of last year.

We would like to remind consumers in Scotland that the risks of getting ill from chickens is low providing you follow our good hygiene and cooking tips.
