Batleys recalls Lorne Sausage due to undeclared sulphur dioxide and Wheat

Batleys in Glasgow (29 Kilbirnie Street) recalls their Lorne Sausage because the product contains sulphur dioxide and wheat, which is not mentioned on the product packaging. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide / sulphites and/or an allergy or intolerance of wheat.

Product names: Lorne 4 Packs / Tandoori Lorne 4 Packs / Hot Spicy Lorne 4 Packs

Pack size: 4 slices in pack

Durability date: All date codes up to and including 29 December 2015

Risk:

Allergen: sulphur dioxide / sulphites and wheat

The product contains sulphur dioxide / sulphites and/or wheat making it a possible health risk for anyone with a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide / sulphites and/or an allergy or intolerance to wheat.

Our advice to consumers:

If you have bought the above product and have a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide / sulphites and/or an allergy or intolerance to wheat, do not eat it or allow anyone else who may have such a sensitivity, allergy or intolerance, to eat it. Instead, return the product to the store from where it was brought for a full refund.

Action taken by the company:

Batleys has recalled the product from consumers and have contacted all stores supplied with these products.  The company has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. The company will be displaying point-of-sale notices in stores. 

This is an error that happened at the Batleys store (29 Kilbirnie Street) in Glasgow, no other Batleys stores or products are known to be affected
